Shalom School & Las Conchas School

Shalom School is a private Christian school founded with support from The Shalom Foundation in order to provide a good education to extremely poor children — children with no access to school in their community.  Shalom School is supported by our  Education Program.  The school  is accredited by the Guatemalan government through the Ministry of Education and teaches a Christian-based curriculum from pre-k through high school. The school is a ministry of Shalom Church in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

The Shalom Foundation has also partnered with Las Conchas Elementary and Middle School located in a highly impoverished neighborhood just outside of Guatemala City.  The school was built by the efforts of the local families with their physical and financial contributions.  Children in pre-k through 6th grade attend school from 7 am until 1 pm. Students in middle school (7th,8th and 9th grade) attend from 1 pm until 5 pm each school day.  Your donations also help meet the needs of this growing school including:  providing their very first text books, building classrooms,  installing a clean water system, mentoring the students and teachers and helping them bring a good education to these sweet children in great need. 

The Mission

The Shalom Foundation’s mission is to provide the opportunity for a good education to children who otherwise have no access to school.  Leaders at Shalom School and Las Conchas School strive to equip students with the knowledge they need to succeed.  They work to restore their hope and build their faith.   Staff and volunteers provide spiritual teaching and guidance based on Biblical values and principles.  The schools strive to educate, guide and help students recognize and fulfill their purpose and potential in life.

Classes and after-school activities offered at Shalom & Las Conchas Schools:                                                 

Both schools offer Spanish,  Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, Music, Art and  Reading.  The Shalom School offers students additional after-school classes and emphasis areas for the high school students including:  Drafting, Architecture, Education,  Computer Technology, Medical Sciences, Home Economics, Carpentry, Band, Cosmetology, Karate and Cheerleading.

School Calendar

The school year in Guatemala begins in January and ends in late September or early October each year.  Graduation held each year in late October or early November.

More than 700 students attend Shalom School.  More than 450 students attend Las Conchas School.
