Nutrition Program

The Shalom Foundation built a commercial kitchen and provided meals to hundreds of students attending Shalom School for over 10 years. The program continues with support of additional school partners.   This has allowed The Shalom Foundation to expand the Nutrition Program to provide for families who are living without food in the Las Conchas community just outside of Guatemala City and to begin work to engineer a nutritional food supplement to reach thousands of children and families.  

Shalom has also joined in-country Guatemalan partners INCAP, Funcafe to produce a nutritional supplement using locally grown ingredients to combat the chronic, stunting malnutrition affecting hundreds of thousands of children.   In collaboration with Vanderbilt Center for Latin American Studies, this historical effort could bring real change and hope to the poor in Guatemala.
